North Stars stellar in win over Humboldt
The scoreboard at the Civic Centre on Friday didn’t show the result many expected-a lopsided score with league leading Humboldt Broncos coming up mightily short against the Battlefords North Stars.
The final was 5-1 for the home side, and although the shots were even, the scoring chances were not even close.
The high-flying Broncos barely mustered any offence to speak of all night long while the North Stars cycled the puck extremely well down low and generated offence on the power play as well.
“It was a good team game and I thought all four lines and all six ‘D’ were going and of course [goaltender Joel Gryzbowski] was solid again,” North Stars head coach Nate Bedford said following the win. “Obviously we’re happy with the result and we’re happy with how we got there, more importantly.”
