Platinum Salon and Spa offers an experience like no other

Going to the salon is supposed to be relaxing and therapeutic. People may think they have to go to Saskatoon to get the ultimate experience, but a new business in the Battlefords rivals any big city. From renovations to a liquor menu, Plantinum Salon and Spa is the new standard for relaxation in the Battlefords!

“My spa is by far the nicest in North Battleford,” Lisa Lavigne, owner of Platinum Salon and Spa said. “It’s definitely the most elegant and trendy looking. You won’t find a cleaner place. I’m obsessed with hygiene. If someone doesn’t sweep up properly then I’ll make them do it until it’s done right. My staff is young. Not new out of hair school but up-to-date with what’s trendy in the fashion world.”

Platinum Salon and Spa is just as focused on the latter as it is the former and provides every comforting amenity.

Lavigne opened Salon Platinum in October 2012. She didn’t like leasing the building it was in because she didn’t have enough control and any renovations weren’t going to benefit her long term.

She moved into the current location at 1141-103 St. in 2015 and renamed it Platinum Salon and Spa. She breathed new meaning into the phrase, “building a business from the ground up.”

“I spent a fortune renovating and I did it all myself, including ripping stairs out.”

It might be tricky not to fall asleep from relaxation at Platinum Salon and Spa.

The spa may look expensive when you walk in but Lavigne assures that prices are competitive.

“I had a lady come in and tell me that she payed over $50 to have her two and five year olds hair cut and that’s ridiculous,” Lavigne said. “We’re busy enough that we aren’t going to over charge you. You’re not going to attract clientele by trying to rip them off. Yes, the salon looks extravagant. When you walk into the salon you’re not in North Battleford anymore. That’s what I was going for,” she added.

Platinum Salon and Spa has eight stations for hair, two manicure and pedicure stations and two facial beds. They also do body waxing and have a massage room with a licensed massage therapist. Massage options include massage therapy, reflexology and hot stone massage.

One of the big draws to the salon that isn’t offered anywhere else in North Battleford is options for some adult beverages.

Platinum Salon and Spa will take care of every need without breaking the bank.

“We’re fully licensed and even do drink specials every month. We’re doing a raspberry lemonade this month and we’re selling more every single day. We have spa packages and believe it or not we get a lot of couples who will come in and get a Mani Pedi together and have a few drinks,” Lavigne said.

“I’d like to get a little bit more into the liquor business. Sometimes people just come and hang out but it isn’t really appropriate when there are kids around. I am thinking of buying the lot next to me and opening a lounge so people can come hang out and drink all the time. I’m super fun, who wouldn’t want to hang out with me?”

Lavigne wants it to be a social experience and a friendly hangout when someone goes to get a pedicure opposed to the majority of salons that try to get customers in and out as quickly as possible. She is putting her own spin on the salon industry, an industry she didn’t have a choice about entering.

Newly renovated, you’ll forget your in the Battlefords as you get a fun and funky new haircut.

“I hated hair school. I hated school in general but mom forced me. At four years old my mom told me this is what I was going to do and that was it.”

Lavigne’s business approach must be working as she has regulars that come from as far as Saskatoon and Edmonton.

Platinum Salon and Spa is located at 1141 103 St. North Battleford. They do walk-ins, but according to Lavigne it’s rare to walk through the doors at a time aren’t too busy. To book an appointment call 306-445-2123.
