Big Island First Nation manslaughter suspect appears in M.L. Provincial Court

A 21 year-old female from the Big Island Lake Cree Territory, charged with the death of 17 year-old Cynder Robinson appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court today.

Brandy Benson was arrested on Wednesday, July 20 without incident and is being charged with manslaughter.

Crown Prosecutor in the case, Greg Piper said a bail report will be done and Benson will appear in court again on August 16 to enter her plea at the Big Island Provincial Court House.

In the early stages of the investigation, it’s believed the accused and her alleged victim were at a party where a fight broke out and Robinson’s body was found at the residence. It’s unclear if the fight was between Benson and Robinson.
