Bad smell not repeated in 2016 fertilizing

Jun 7, 2016 | 2:09 PM

There was nothing smelly about this year’s fertilizer application in a field near North Battleford.

Over 3,500 cubic metres of biofertilizer was successfully transferred from the Wastewater Treatment Plant and injected in to the soil.

It’s a noticeable improvement from the 2015 transfer, which didn’t go according to plan and produced an unpleasant and pungent smell which drifted over the city and caused numerous complaints.

The biofertilizer came from the Lystek system –a process in the Water Treatment Plant which converts bio-solids in order to produce commercial fertilizer.
