Hamilton, but not Mahon, to run again
Battleford Mayor Derek Mahon says his name will not be on the ballot when voters go to the polls October 26.
“It’s the same day as my 55th birthday and I will not be seeking re-election as mayor,” Mahon said Wednesday, May 18 following the State of the City and Town address. He said business and family will be priorities for him.
“We move forward with the next 160 days of the mandate. I have a consulting business that works with First Nations governments for the last 25 years. There’s a lot of projects I have that will take me out of town,” he said.
Mahon served four terms as a town councillor. He was acclaimed as mayor in 2012, succeeding Chris Odishaw.
