North Stars hold their heads high despite exit at WCC

The Battlefords North Stars seasoon lasted 251 days, from fitness testing on the first day of training camp in August, until elimination at the hands of the Penticton Vees at the Western Canada Cup on May 6.

North Stars season comes to an end after loss to Vees

The Battlefords North Stars season is over.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League champions fell 4-0 to the Penticton Vees on Saturday afternoon at the Western Canada Cup in the third versus fourth playoff game.

Say what you want about the Chilliwack Chiefs scratching many of their top players in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Battlefords North Stars – the fact is the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League champions played by far their best game of the tournament and really should have won by more.

The Battlefords North Stars played their best game of their tournament when it mattered the most, but it might not quite be enough to advance at the Western Canada Cup.

Through three games at the Western Canada Cup, the North Stars have the worst shooting percentage, with five goals on 76 shots.

It was a marginally better effort for the Battlefords North Stars in their third game at the Western Canada Cup, but the Alberta champion Brooks Bandits were simply too much, as the North Stars fell 4-1 to drop to 0-2-1 after three round robin games.

Stars focus on mental preparations ahead of tilt with Brooks

Sunday's matinee against the Portage Terriers at the Western Canada Cup didn't go very well for the Battlefords North Stars.

But the team knows that and it's now old news.

The Battlefords North Stars chose a bad time to not show up.

In their second game at the Western Canada Cup, they fell 5-3 to the Portage Terriers to fall to 0-1-1 halfway through the round robin after losing 2-1 in overtime to Penticton on Saturday.
