Bedford doesn't expect Bruins series to be special teams battle

The Estevan Bruins and Battlefords North Stars have not played each other since Jan. 6.

In that game, the North Stars won 6-3, much of part thanks to two first period power play goals.

Power play goals were a theme of the season series, that saw each team win twice.

It's now official: the Battlefords North Stars will host the Estevan Bruins in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League semifinals, which are set to begin next weekend.

It was by far the closest game of the series: a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes and a 3-3 tie after 40.

In their first road game of the 2017 playoffs, the North Stars duplicated their eight-goal performance from game two with an 8-1 route of Weyburn in game three.

Goal explosion gives North Stars dominant win in game 2

After a subpar performance in their 4-3 game one win over Weyburn on Friday, the Battlefords North Stars found the back of the net eight times in game two to take a 2-0 series lead.

North Stars squeak out game 1 win over Weyburn

It was yet another one goal game between the Battlefords North Stars and Weyburn Red Wings but in the end, Battlefords came out on the right side of the 4-3 score in game one of their quarterfinal playoff series on Friday night.

Yet the home side almost blew a 4-1 lead.
