There is an old adage that revenge is a dish best served cold.

And for the Battlefords North Stars, this was the case as the dealt with the Weyburn Red Wings Saturday night.

North Stars continue winning ways by topping Bombers

There's no other way to say it: the start to the 2017-18 season for the Battlefords North Stars has been spectacular.

On Saturday night, the North Stars defeated the Flin Flon Bombers 5-2 on home ice, outshooting the visitors 48-28 to improve to 8-0-1 this year.

The North Stars wore retro jerseys on Friday night against the Melfort Mustangs, which can be bid on during Saturday's silent auction. They beat Melfort 3-2 in overtime.

Leading into Friday's home game against the Melfort Mustangs, it seemed that North Stars captain Layne Young had pretty much done it all this season.

His 18 points in seven games were almost laughable.

There was a point in Friday's home game against Melville, early in the third period, when the energy was sucked right out of the Civic Centre.

All of a sudden, the Battlefords North Stars' 3-0 lead turned to a 3-2 lead.

The Battlefords North Stars tinkered with their roster on Wednesday despite a strong 5-0-1 start to the 2017-18 season, as they acquired 20-year-old forward Chaseton Braid from the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

North Stars ranked fifth nationally in latest CJHL top-20

The Battlefords North Stars' hot start to the 2017-18 season led to recognition in the latest edition of the Canadian Junior Hockey League's top-20 weekly rankings.

Last week, the team was ranked eighth in the country and were the second-highest Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team.
