The inaugural Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and Manitoba Junior Hockey League combined showcase wrapped up on Tuesday with a second slate of games at the Co-operators Centre in Regina.

For the first time since September, the Battlefords North Stars find themselves out of the top 10 national rankings of the Canadian Junior ‘A’ Hockey League.

This past week, the Battlefords North Stars came back from a 3-0 deficit against the top team in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League thanks to two goals from Brad Girard.

SJHL/MJHL Showcase Day 1 Recap

Five Battlefords North Stars took part in the first ever Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and Manitoba Junior Hockey League combined showcase, which kicked off on Monday in Regina with a three-game slate.

All three games were SJHL victories.

Matthias Urbanski recorded three assists in two showcase games and has six points in his last four games for the North Stars.

Urbanski proving to be a steal for North Stars

Battlefords North Stars rookie forward Matthias Urbanski missed training camp, and first saw action in a pre-season game on Sept. 6 against Humboldt.

This wasn't because he was hurt.

Crusaders junior boys basketball team captures gold at home

The John Paul II Crusaders junior boys basketball team continued their strong season this past weekend, and managed to do it in front of their home fans, winning their home tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.
