Battlefords Community Players Presents, Of the Fields Lately

The Battlefords Community Players will be presenting, Of the Fields Lately for their last show of the season.

This brilliant play by Canadian David French, is a sequel to his first play and reunites the Mercer family.  Son Ben returns after an absence of two years to attend his aunt Dot’s funeral, only to find that his father has recently suffered a heart attack.  As Jacob tries to come to terms with his situation, and Wiff and Mary grieve for Dot, Ben must make an important decision.  This astonishing work about the ties of love and pride that bind us to family has been produced throughout North America.  David French brings his lovely sense of comedy to help control the contradictions of human nature.

This is the last show of the season for the Battlefords Community Players and runs April 4,6,7,8 at the WDM, tickets are still available by calling 446-3133.   

If you can’t make those dates, the play is Battlefords Community Players enter in the Theatre Saskatchewan provincial competition being held in North Battleford April 24 – 29th. A week of competition involving 5 other companies including Cochin Community Players, Tale Spinner Theatre, Melfort Amateur Dramatics, Regina Little Theatre and Swift Current Little Theatre.  A whole week of theatre gives us 3 comedies and 3 dramas, daily workshops, socials and it’s all open to the public. The venue is the Dekker Centre and tickets are available through them.
