Battlefords Concern for Youth

Battleford’s Concern For Youth is a non-profit community based organization that began in May, 1989. Outreach workers work with all youth & their families in the City of North Battleford, Town of Battleford,
and the surrounding area & also work collaboratively with all agencies in the Battleford’s.
 

Concern For Youth’s mission is:

  • Use a proactive approach to assist youth in making responsible decisions.
  • To identify the needs of youth.
  • To act as a liaison between youth and community programming.
  • To raise the profile of youth issues in the community 

Outreach workers can be found at the following places: 

  • On the street
  • In our outreach van
  • At schools
  • At organizations such as: Boys & Girls club, Friendship Center
  • At the office – Phoenix School
  • Anywhere youth hang out eg. Bowling alley, 7-11, etc.

The primary objective of outreach workers is to locate, interact, and connect with youth at risk & their families & make referrals to social and community agencies that can provide them wi th programs and services.

Outreach workers also provide the following services:

  • Home visits
  • School visits
  • Personal and Family support
  • Will attend any meetings with youth eg. Court, doctor, counselor, etc.
  • Assistance with any forms
  • Recreational Services eg. A friend to play basketball with, etc.
  • Positive role model for youth
  • Act as a liaison and mediator
  • Ensure youth are safe
  • Empower youth to make safe, positive, healthy, and responsible decisions
  • Listens to youth express their needs and acts as a spokesperson to identify gaps in services
  • Provides a non-judgmental environment that is respectful to youth
  • Helps to locate missing youth
