Roast Beef Supper: 6:00 pm

Saskatchewan’s own cowboy poet Bryce Burnett and singer-songwriter Laura Hayes will be sure to entertain with their folksy styles.

Bryce Burnett – Poet

Growing up “in ranching ways” on the prairies of south west Saskatchewan, Bryce Burnett puts pen to paper to proudly celebrate his heritage and the lifestyle he loves.

Burnett’s cowboy poetry recollects his memories of homesteaders and characters in his region, as well as the animals and natural wonders that have affected him daily. Community events and family meals, trips to town and Sunday worship services, cattle encounters and the beauty of the fields, births and deaths, rodeos, cattle shows, and fishing trips all play a role in the life of a rancher. Burnett captures them all in his own style, often with a dash of humour.

Laura Hayes – Roots Artist

Laura Hayes is a Roots artist – both with her music and her lifestyle. This singer/songwriter was born in rural Saskatchewan and is back raising her own family on prairie soil after years enjoying the bustling lifestyle in Calgary, and a busy career as a news reporter and producer with CFCN Television. Laura loves to write, and her songs tell honest stories that are brought to life with her unique voice. Laura is a popular contributor at cowboy poetry gatherings and music festivals, and was recently invited to perform at the Saskatchewan Country Music Association’s annual Songwriter’s Circle. Laura is currently working on her second album. Her debut CD, Road to Nowhere is a collection of her original tunes.
