Thank You Volunteers!

The benefits of volunteering are endless, and so are the reasons why volunteers become volunteers. If you would like to develop or improve your personal skill development, acquire skills for employment or educational pursuits, or simply to help your community by giving a little bit back, the Battlefords Boys & Girls Club may have the opportunities you are looking for.

Volunteer Opportunities
Whether you are looking for short term or long term opportunities, we can find the opportunities that best suit your needs and interests. Opportunities include (but are not limited to):

Program Support Workers (recreational, cultural, social, educational)
Special Events & Parties (Christmas, Halloween, Club Parties, etc)
Office Support (Marketing, Program Planning and Development, Community Outreaching)
Fundraising (Race for Kids, Dinner and Silent Auction, BBQ’s, Community Events)
Maintenance (building, equipment, computers, etc)
Board of Directors

Volunteer Requirements
We ask that volunteers be a minimum of 12 years of age. We will do our best to ensure that each and every volunteer experience is a rewarding one! For the safety of our Club, our youth as well as yourself, each volunteer must complete our Volunteer Screening process prior to beginning their volunteer experience.

Please Note: Each volunteer must go complete our volunteer screening process, which is very similar to applying for a job. To apply to be a volunteer, one must complete a volunteer application and return it to the Battlefords Boys & Girls Club. Our volunteer screening includes reference checks, interviews as well as a Criminal Record Check. For futher details, please contact the Battlefords Boys & Girls Club.

Do you have skills?
If you have specific skills, hobbies or interests and feel that youth could benefit from them, why not volunteer some instruction? There are a wide range of opportunities including painting, arts and crafts, sewing, beading, survival skills, cooking, athletics, fitness instruction, music, reading, and educational instruction. These are just some of the ways you will be able to help pass your skills on to youth in our community. If you think that you may have some skills to teach, be sure to contact us!

Education and Community Service
Applying to University? Looking for work? Employers and Educational Institutions WILL look at your volunteer experiences, and these experiences may be the difference!

Many schools in the Battlefords have Community Service requirements in their classes. Students can volunteer in program delivery and staff support to meet these requirements. Talk to your teachers or contact the Club about Community Service requirements and expectations.

John Paul II Community Service Requirements
We warmly accept students interested in completing their community service requirements to the Club. For details on how you can complete your community service, please contact the Battlefords Boys & Girls Club at boysandgirlsclub@accesscomm.ca or phone 445-0002. Please be aware that students must complete the Club’s volunteer screening requirements prior to beginning their community service.
