Best Computer Store: Kelly’s Computer Works

Sep 20, 2017 | 9:00 PM

The world of technology is constantly changing. What is today’s “next big thing” can be obsolete weeks after it hits the store shelves.

Laptops, PC’s, tablets and cellphones are all designed to put information at your fingertips in an instant.

The question is how do we make sense of today’s technology and find out what is best for our needs. A good first stop would be to see the staff at Kelly’s Computer Works (KCW) on 100th St. in North Battleford.

Since 1995, Kelly’s Computer Works have been helping the Battlefords area with computer sales and service and much more.

Darryl Arnold has been a part of the KCW family since its inception when the company was started by Kelly Parkinson. Darryl and his wife Cathy loved the industry and the community so much when given the chance to purchase the store in 2005, he did.

“I’ve been involved with computer for about 22 years or so,” said Darryl. “Even before PC’s came along I was dabbling with Texas Instruments products when I was in grade five.”

From its humble beginnings in 1995, Darryl has certainly seen numerous changes in technology with the cost factor being perhaps the biggest change.

“In 1995, a home computer would run you easily $2,000 to $2,400,” Darryl remembered. “In fact we (KCW) used to sell a lot of used computers when we first started just so we could keep it affordable for our customers.”

With over 4,000 sq. ft. Kelly Computer Works have expanded its services to include mobile devices as well.

“A large component of our business is on the mobility side,” he added. “We have the latest in Telus phones and tablets to fit any budget.”

“Our clientele ranges today from the gamer to the business user,” Darryl said. “We have recently become a recognized DJI Drone dealer and that has really gone well.”Kelly’s Computer Works also services laptops, cellphones, PC’s and more with terminology you can understand and not “computer-lingo”

“We know how important your device is to you whether work or play,” he noted. “So it’s important to us to have your system working properly.”
