Jun 12, 2018 | 12:00 PM

The search has come to an end for the Battlefords North Stars new head coach.

The Stars announced today Brayden Klimosko will be handling the operations of Head Coach and General Manager, effective immediately.

“I’m going to be a hands-on coach,” Klimosko said. “That’s the way I’ve learned and that’s the way I coach… We’re going to be a team that’s tough to compete against.”

Klimosko played in the SJHL with the Humboldt Broncos for three seasons, from 2006-2008. In 2007 and 2008 Klimosko was a part of the League Championship team, as well as the Anavet Cup and National Championships in 2008 with the Broncos.

Klimosko began his coaching career in his hometown with the Humboldt Broncos as an assistant coach, assistant GM, as well as the Marketing Manager from 2013 – 2017.

Most recently, Klimosko was the assistant coach with the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL where they went 33-22-5, which was third in the Viterra South Division.

“It’s a great place to coach,” Klimosko said on the North Stars organization and fan base. “It’s one of, if not the best, fan base in the SJHL.”

The North Stars released this statement on Klimosko:

“The Battlefords North Stars Hockey Club along with our fans and community members are excited to have Brayden apart of our franchise and look forward to the 2018-19 season!”
