‘Cops for Cancer’ raises over $3,000 for cancer research

A large crowd gathered at the RCMP detachment on 101st St. in North Battleford Wednesday to watch as four law enforcement officials had their heads and moustaches shaved to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual ‘Cops for Cancer’ initiative.

Battlefords RCMP Staff Sgt. Darcy Woolfitt, Sgt. Jeremy Anderson, Const. Alex Butts and Battleford Public Safety Officer Al Manibal donated their time and hair for cancer research and raised more than $3,000 for their efforts.

“It was great to get support from the community for this fundraiser,” Woolfitt said. “I know I’ll take some ribbing, but it was for a good cause and we like to give back to our community.”
