A retired Saskatchewan RCMP officer has been charged with financial crimes after allegedly misappropriating thousands of dollars from the federal government.

The Saskatchewan RCMP received information on accounting irregularities in the “F” Division’s Organized Crime Awareness Service in February of 2013. An RCMP spokesperson said an investigation determined $18,000 was misappropriated into personal bank accounts.

As a result of the investigation, Cheryl Jarvis was charged with theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, forgery and using a forged document. According to the RCMP, Jarvis served as the sergeant in charge of the “F” Division Drugs and Organized Crime Awareness Service from May of 2008 until October of 2010. She retired from the RCMP in 2015.

Jarvis will make her first appearance in Regina Provincial Court May 29, the RCMP said. She is presumed innocent at this stage.
