May 17, 2018 | 10:00 AM

The Unity Cardinals will begin defending their North Saskatchewan River Baseball League title tonight as the 2018 season opens on two fronts.

The Cardinals are in North Battleford tonight to square off against the Battleford Trappers at the Ken Nelson Field tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the season opener for both teams.

The Trappers starting rotation had trouble on the mound in their first season in the NSRBL with an inflated earned run average of 5.99, while the Cardinals had the best ERA last season at 2.31. At the only meeting between the two teams last season, the Trappers blanked Unity 2-0.

Game time tonight is at 6:30 p.m.
