Traffic stop results in meth seizure and arrests

Two people from Big River First Nation face numerous drug trafficking and weapons charges after a traffic stop on Highway 55 near Debden netted RCMP what is believed to be methamphetamines (crystal meth) and a quantity of prescription pills.

Leslie Keenatch, 43, and Sandra Keenatch, 34, were arrested on Saturday, April 21 when members of the Big River and Spiritwood RCMP conducted the traffic stop which resulted in a follow up search at a residence on Big River First Nation where weapons including ammunition and an imitation firearm were confiscated.

Both accused are schedule to appear in Provincial Court at Big River First Nation on June 12.

The allegations against the accused have not been proven in court.
