Location of Broncos tragedy closed for testing and analysis

The intersection of Highways 35 and 335 is once again the centre of attention, following the collision that resulted in 16 deaths and 13 injuries for the Humboldt Broncos hockey team.

Almost two weeks after the tragedy, Saskatchewan RCMP said they are continuing to investigate the incident. The Forensic Collision Reconstruction team is closing off the area today, RCMP said, in order to allow for additional collision scene testing and analysis.

The RCMP said all roads leading to the intersection would be barricaded today with detours put in place. This means there will be no access to the memorial site. The closure is expected to last until 6 p.m. tonight.

In a statement, RCMP said investigators will position vehicles similar to those involved in the collision at the site, allowing reconstructionists to take further measurements and analyze sight lines. The integrity of the investigation is critical, the RCMP said.
