Bowl for Kids Sake returns this Sunday

Mar 22, 2018 | 2:00 PM

What if you could change a child’s life simply by changing shoes?

That potential is there this Sunday when you swap your shoes for a pair of bowling shoes at Gutters Bowling and Games Centre in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Bowl for Kids Sake.

After last year’s successful relaunch, BBBS program co-ordinator Renee Sperling expects this year event to exceed last year.

“Last year I was blown away by the support from the community and with the amount of interest we have received for this Sunday’s Bowl for Kids Sake… it should be phenomenal,” said Sperling.

The bowling begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday with time slots available throughout the day. Participants can register individually or as a part of a team of six.

“All proceeds from Bowl for Kids Sake will stay in the Battlefords area,” Sperling added. ”The funds help us with programs and events that BBBS does with not only youth in the area but with families and volunteers.”

The $20 registration includes shoe rentals and one hour of bowling.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned bowler or trying it out for the first time, we just want people to come out and have fun and see what BBBS is all about,” she said.

There will also be door prizes and raffles to be won. All of which have been donated by the business community of the Battlefords and area including concert tickets donated by CJNB/The Rock and Q98.

Sperling also thanked Joe and Kelly Williams of Gutters Bowling and Games Centre for once again donating 100 per cent of all money raised and staffing for Bowl for Kids Sake.

“We couldn’t do this without Joe and Kelly’s support,” Renee added. “They do so much for us and I can’t thank them or any of the other businesses who contributed a prize or team enough.”
