Saskatchewan NDP set to pick to new leader today

Mar 3, 2018 | 11:27 AM

The Saskatchewan New Democrats will have a new leader by days end; Ryan Meili or Trent Wotherspoon.

Party faithful have cast their votes, and are gathering today in Regina where they will find out who will take over the reigns of the official opposition.

Wotherspoon has represented Regina Rosemont since 2007 and served as the interim leader from April 2016 until June 2017, when he made a surprise entrance into the race. Meili won a byelection in January 2017 in the constituency of Saskatoon Meewasin.

The leadership convention will get underway at 1 p.m. Results are expected to come down around 3:40 p.m. with a victory speech to follow.
