Possible brown Christmas as December warm-up continues

Dec 11, 2017 | 7:29 AM

Drivers may want to top up on windshield washer fluid as the winter warm-up continues through the week.

It was an odd situation Sunday when Environment Canada issued a special weather statement about the unseasonably warm weather expected for this week in December. The statement covered half of Saskatchewan, stretching from Prince Albert down to Regina.

“The reason for the special weather statement is basically because of the higher than normal temperatures followed by the borderline warning-level winds in behind it,” meteorologist Amanda Prysizney said Sunday.

Wind gusts peaked at over 70 kilometres an hour overnight on Sunday and began easing off early Monday.
