The name of the judge has been announced for the second-degree murder case involving Gerald Stanley.

Chief Justice Martel Popescul, who is the chief justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan, will preside in a trial by jury at Court of Queen’s Bench in the town of Battleford.

Stanley, 55, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the fatal shooting of Colten Boushie, 22, of Red Pheasant Cree Nation, on Stanley’s Biggar-area farmyard on Aug. 9, 2016.

The case is currently in the second day of a voir dire process at Queen’s Bench Court, scheduled for five days this week.
