City planning temporary street closures

Oct 4, 2017 | 5:00 PM

North Battleford residents will need to take a few more minutes to plan their routes starting Thursday, as the city will have a number of temporary street closures.

For continued work on the city’s UPAR (Underground Pipeline and Asphalt Replacement) rehabilitation projects, closures are planned for two spots.

Mayor Ryan Bater said the UPAR infrastructure upgrades are progressing well.

“They are paving downtown today (Wednesday). So that’s moving along well. We still expect it to be done in the near future here,” he said.

UPAR work

There will be a street closure Thursday on 102 Street at the 12 Avenue intersection.

Also, there will be a partial street closure Thursday on 100 Street, in the northbound, east lane, at the 12 Avenue intersection.

Mayor Ryan Bater said the UPAR infrastructure upgrades are progressing as planned.

“They are paving downtown today (Wednesday). So that’s moving along well. We still expect it to be done in the near future here,” he said.

Both closures will begin at 7 a.m., and will last until Friday at 7 p.m.

Snowboarding event

On Sat., Oct. 7 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., a separate street closure is planned for the 1300 block of 100 Street to accommodate a community event called the Annual Thanksgiving Throwdown. The event includes a snowboarding demonstration organized by Freedom Skate and Snow.
