Sep 23, 2017 | 10:00 AM

A capacity crowd was on hand at the Gold Eagle Casino on Friday night to welcome legendary Canadian rockers April Wine back to the Battleford’s.

“It’s been a long-time,” lead singer Myles Goodwyn told the crowd. “It’s great to be back here you were a great crowd.”

The 2010 inductees into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame played many of the greatest hits including “You Could Have Been a Lady”, “Just Between You and Me”, “Roller” and “Tonite is a Wonderful Time”.

“It was such a thrill to see them again,” Mary from Wilkie said. “This is my fifth time seeing them (April Wine) and if they come to the area you can guarantee my butt will be in a chair.”

John from Glasyln was one of the first to get tickets when they went on sale and said he has been waiting to see April Wine for years.

“I saw them in Regina in 1978 I think,”he added. “Their music brings back so many memories for a lot of us here tonight.”

Tony from Saskatoon gave up seeing the Saskatoon Blades season opener to come to the Gold Eagle to see the show.

“It’s fantastic to see them out on tour doing what they love to do,” he said. ”The show at the Dunes (Dakota Dunes Casino in Saskatoon) tomorrow night was sold out so I was lucky a friend of mine got tickets to this show.”

“The Blades will always have a season opener but how many April Wine shows will I get to see? I just had to come. ”Tony added.

The group’s tour moves to Saskatoon Saturday night before moving to the U.S. for dates in Minnesota and Illinois. Their cross Canada tour which began in May in Mississauga Ont. wraps up in November in Ottawa.
