MARYSTOWN, N.L. — Friends and family are mourning a young Regina woman who was killed by her boyfriend in a murder-suicide in Marystown, N.L.

Jeff Kilfoy, 37, killed Ryanna Grywacheski, 18, last weekend before taking his own life.

Her body was found in a home that had been surrounded by police while Kilfoy’s body was later found in a wooded area nearby.

Grywacheski’s aunt, Cornelia Behr, issued a statement on behalf of the family Wednesday that described her as “beautiful, loving and caring.”

Behr says her niece loved animals, baking and cooking, and was a very talented and creative artist who aspired to become a welder.

She says in 2013, Grywacheski was hit by a car while walking to school and struggled with depression after months of rehabilitation.

“She also struggled with finding her own path,” Behr says. “But she was unique and never afraid to be herself.”

Taylor Balfour says her high school friend was a talented young woman who cared deeply for her loved ones.

“It makes me sad that not more people will get to know the person that I knew,” says Balfour. “Dying at 18 is just unfair. Your life has hardly begun.”
