Fourth annual Street Fest brought large crowd downtown

Jul 31, 2017 | 11:47 AM

Despite the high temperatures in North Battleford this weekend, several hundred people packed into downtown for the fourth annual Street Fest.

The smell of mini donuts and poutine filled the air as a variety of food vendors had set up shop to provide delicious foods for hungry patrons to snack on while watching the performances.

Those in attendance also got the chance to check out different vendor booths that sold items such as jewellery and clothing.

In conjunction with Street Fest, the first ever Pride event and march was also held in Central Park.

Street performers came from all over the world, such as the United Kingdom and New Zealand, to entertain residents of the Battlefords.

Mat Ricardo, a juggler and comedian who performed at Street Fest, said performing is mutually beneficial for both the audience and himself.

“Hopefully after [each] show, both me and the audience went away happier, and that’s pretty special,” Ricardo said.
