Thunder from Down Under plans to take Battlefords by storm

Jul 26, 2017 | 11:28 AM

They have appeared on the Ellen Show, Live with Regis and Kelly and The View and now Australia’s Thunder from Down Under will bring its show to the Gold Eagle Casino on Friday, Aug. 4.

The all-male cast will tour Western Canada in August and according to performer Ben Cleary, the audience will be treated to a Vegas style show.

“Our show will have all the glitz and glamour of a show you would expect to see on the Las Vegas strip,” Cleary said. He is currently performing with one of the touring groups in Mississippi. “It’s a fully choreographed show that will feature acrobatics, dance, comedy and a lot of fun.”

Originally from Tasmania, Cleary has been with Thunder from Down Under for over a year and says the troupe currently has 26 performers divided into three entities.

“One group performs exclusively in Las Vegas year-round,” Cleary said. “The other two groups spend 11 months of year travelling Europe, Asia, and North America. It’s been a great experience for me personally because I’ve had the chance to see many parts of the world I perhaps would never have visited before.”

Not to be confused with male-strippers, Cleary was quick to point out that the members of Thunder from Down Under bill themselves as an all-male revue.

“When you think of strippers you think of a strip club with a lot of bumping and grinding,” Cleary said. “We are not anything like that. Our performance is done with class and taste and we will be as close to a Vegas show as you would expect.”

Cleary said he and the rest of the group are looking forward to coming to the area.

“I love Canada,” he added. ”The people are great, the scenery is beautiful and the food is terrific as well. All the lads are looking forward to touring Canada again.”

The show begins Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Gold Eagle Casino and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Battlefords Humane Society.
