AAA Sharks 2017-18 schedule released

The Battlefords Sharks won’t have to wait until the final days of October for their home opener like they did last season, but their 2017-18 schedule still begins with four straight road games.

Not only that, but their first three opponents will be the top three teams from last season in Melville, Prince Albert, and Saskatoon.

The 28-game schedule kicks off with back-to-back games in Melville on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, followed by a road trip to Prince Albert to take on the defending champion Northern Bears on Oct. 7 and 8.

The Sharks home opener is set for the following weekend, when they welcome the Saskatoon Stars to Battleford Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. The teams go at it again the following afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

Four straight games is the longest they’ll spend away from home, both at the beginning of the year and between Oct. 21 and Nov. 5, while their longest homestand is six straight games to be played between Nov. 25 to Dec. 17.

The Sharks busiest month is November, when they’ll play eight games, or two every weekend.

Their season wraps up with two home games against Swift Current on Feb. 10 and 11.

Twenty of the Sharks games will be played in 2017, with just eight scheduled for 2018.

All of their games except for two will be played on weekends. They have two Thursday games, one in January and one in February, both on the road against Saskatoon.
