UPDATE: Tornado warning ended for Biggar, Springwater, Grandview

As of approximately 4:15 p.m., on Sunday, July 17 there is a tornado warning in effect for the R.M. of Biggar including Biggar and Springwater, and the R.M. of Grandview, including Handel and Kelfield. The warning also includes the R.M. of Corman Park, including Martensville, Warman and Langhan, as well as the R.M. of Eagle Creek, including Arelee and Sonningdale.

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. Doppler radar indicates a potential tornado near Handel.

Environment Canada is warning this is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. They said people should take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

“If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately,” stated the warning from Environment Canada.
