From now until Sept. 1, the city of North Battleford is offering a recreational roller skating program through Leisure Services.

The 'Rec & Roll' program allows families and anyone interested, to roller skate on Rotary Plaza at the Cuplex or inside the Field House on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7-9 p.m.

"It was something new and exciting for North Battleford, something that we couldn't do here anymore and we used to be able to," program manager Candace Dustan said. "That's just kind of where the idea came from."

The program is made possible because of the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs (BATC).

"In 2014, we got a grant from BATC to purchase some roller skates so we purchased 200 pairs," Dustan said. "We have them available for $2 each and people can come to the Field House and they can rollerskate indoors or outdoors."

There is also the option to bring your own skates.

"It's a really fun thing for families to do," Dustan added. "And the nice thing is if it's not outside, we can do it inside."
