Game On! Riders broadcasts return to CJNB/CJNS

Jun 22, 2017 | 12:00 PM

To say Saskatchewan Roughrider Nation is excited about the 2017 Canadian Football League season would be an understatement; especially at CJNB and CJNS.

After a dismal 2016 season (5-13) in which the team finished out of the playoffs for a second straight year, hopes are high for an improved Riders team this season.

“The experts are all over the place with their predictions this year,” said CJNB/CJNS morning show host Grant Schutte.”  Some say 10 wins other say seven, hey if we get between those numbers I’ll be a happy man.”

The Riders open the 2017 season on the road this afternoon against former Rider Darian Durant and the Montreal Alouettes. Once again this season, you can hear every Roughrider game on CJNB/CJNS. You can also download the new CJNB/CJNS app so you never miss a minute of the action.

The Riders will start the season with the youngest lineup in the CFL (average age of 26.9-years-old) while Montreal has the oldest lineup in the league (average age of 28.4-years-old).

CJNS announcer Matt Ryan thinks the Riders season will be heavily influenced by how the defence plays.

“They (Roughriders) will put a lot of points on the board,” Ryan said. “I think the secondary is a work in progress. The defense is young with a lot of draft picks making the opening day roster, so seven wins this year is what I am thinking at this point.”

Today’s broadcast begins at 2:30 p.m. with the pre-game show while the opening kick-off from Percival Molson Memorial Stadium is at 5:30 p.m.
