Organizers hoping for more golfers for United Way Open

Jun 21, 2017 | 8:00 AM

With less than three weeks to go, there are still a few openings left  for the 20th Battlefords United Way Golf Tournament being played at the Jackfish Lodge & Conference Centre on Monday, July 10.

Registration is just $125 per person and includes a steak dinner following the round of golf.

“We (United Way) are excited about the fact that this our 20th year hosting the golf tournament,” said Rose Silzer-Quinn, executive director of the United Way. “We have openings right now and we do want to make this the biggest event yet to celebrate this momentous occasion.”

“I guess the thing I would like to emphasis is that when you support the United Way Golf Tournament you are supporting local agencies as well,” Silzer-Quinn added. “Every dime stays in the Battlefords and enriches the lives of our community.”

The Battlefords United Way supports five member agencies including the Battlefords Boys and Girls Club, Battlefords & Area Sexual assault Centre, the Battlefords Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Battleford Trade and Education Centre and the Battlefords District Food & Resource Centre.

“The event is by far biggest fundraiser of the year for the United Way,” committee chair Duane Lafreniere said.  “We have some terrific prizes and contests to take part in but best of all you help support our United Way and by doing that we can continue to support the organizations we do.”
