The Fred Light Museum in Battleford will officially unveil their new gazebo with a grand opening event Friday.

The gazebo is located at the back of the museum grounds, and has a picnic table for people to sit.

Bernadette Leslie, Manager of the museum, hopes the new attraction will increase traffic, along with donations.

“We’ve decided that it’s such a beautiful view back from the gazebo that would be nice for people to be able to come and take pictures through weddings or anniversaries, [or] just coming for a picnic,” Leslie said.

The grand opening will include a barbecue, a blacksmith demonstration, and activities such as three-legged races and gunnysack races. It will run from noon until roughly 3 p.m., and is open to the public.
