Tractor fire investigation underway in Medstead

There were harrowing moments for a Medstead farmer as the tractor he was operating caught fire. 

Volunteer Firefighters were called to the property shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday to see the tractor fully engulfed in flames.

“The fire is still under investigation,” Deputy Fire Chief Des Boyd said. “It appears that a hose must have blown and sprayed on the exhaust manifold. The tractor went up in a matter of minutes.”

Boyd says the operator of the tractor, Corey Penner, escaped unharmed.

“It was a scary situation for sure,” Boyd added. “Luckily Corey got out safe.”
