Keeping appointments vital for upcoming blood donor clinics

With summer fast approaching and the need for blood urgently required, Canadian Blood Services is calling on everyone who booked for the May 29 blood donor clinic to keep their appointments.

“We are thrilled to have the May 29 Battlefords Blood Donor Clinic at the Don Ross Centre completely booked up at this point,” Tracey Smith, Regional Director of Canadian Blood Services said. “So if we can give a gentle reminder to everyone to keep their appointments that would be terrific.”

It’s estimated that one in every two Canadians is eligible to give blood, yet only one in 60 actually do. According to Smith the Battleford region goes against the trend and has always had a great turn out for the clinics.

“The support [we] get from the Battlefords is amazing especially heading into the summer,” Smith noted. “Routines are disrupted and some of our regular donors head out on vacation for the summer months so to have every appointment booked a week in advance is incredible.”
