May 20, 2017 | 11:20 AM

The Battlefords can expect some horsing around at the Exhibition Grounds early next month.

From June 2 to 4, the Battlefords Agricultural Society (BAS) will host the first stop on the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association’s (CPCA) circuit. Some of these racers will move on to compete at the Calgary Stampede later in the year.

June 2 and 3 will focus on various heats for racers to compete, with finals and awards taking place on June 4. Generally, there is 12 racers minimum per evening, but in the past, the event has seen as many as 18.

Jocelyn Ritchie, general manager of BAS, said the event is fast-paced and will be exciting for attendees across all demographics.

“[This event] is not just for the rodeo or cowboy crowd, it’s absolutely for everybody,” she said. “It’s very thrilling, heart-stopping, and I would encourage everyone to come out because it’s really a great show.”

This three-day event begins at 6:30 p.m. on June 2 and 3. Sunday, June 4, the races will kick off at 2 p.m. followed by finals and awards to bring the event to a close.

Single day passes will be available at $15.00 per adult, and $10.00 per student. Three-day passes will also be available at $40.00, and $25.00 respectively.
