More charges faced, another lawyer needed for Alexa Emerson

The woman suspected of sending white powder packages and bomb threats around Saskatoon is now facing charges related to two bomb scares just outside the city.

Alexa Emerson, a.k.a. Amanda Totchek, is now accused of sending a suspicious package to Hague School in mid-March and a bomb threat to Warman High School on April 26. 

A court appearance Thursday morning also detailed where six other bomb threats were sent between April 11-26, listing the University of Saskatchewan, Aden Bowman Collegiate Institute, Ernst and Young, Global News, SIAST and the Saskatoon Health Region.

Emerson is also looking for a new lawyer again after her latest counsel withdrew. Lisa Watson said she discovered a conflict of interest while going through documents related to the case.

Emerson’s first lawyer, Brian Pfefferle, withdrew after a white powder package was delivered to his office in March.

Morris Bodnar then stepped in, but withdrew shortly after. There’s no word on why that decision was made.

Emerson is due back in court on May 23.
