The Battlefords North Stars will indeed live to fight another day at the Western Canada Cup.

On Thursday night, the Penticton Vees defeated the Portage Terriers 5-3 in regulation, meaning Battlefords squeaks in as the fourth seed with a 1-2-1 record and Portage is eliminated after going 1-3. This comes after the North Stars shut out the Chilliwack Chiefs 3-0 on Thursday afternoon for their first win of the tournament.

The Vees will now host the North Stars in the third versus fourth playoff game on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Saskatchewan time.

In their head-to-head game from the round robin, Penticton prevailed 2-1 in overtime.
