Moody’s Equipment holds grand opening in NB

Apr 12, 2017 | 5:40 PM

Moody’s Equipment held their grand opening today in North Battleford where company and community representatives came together to celebrate the opening of the new agricultural equipment business.

And as part of becoming a valued member of the community, Moody’s also made a generous donation to the Battelfords District Care Centre, as they were gifted a much needed Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Rory Anderson, branch operations manager, wasn’t about to make the day all about Moody’s. He had a special presentation for the district care centre.

“It is very important for us to give back to the community,” said Rory Anderson, branch operations manager. “We heard the Battlefords District Care Centre was in need of an AED machine for their patients and it was a natural fit for us. To be able to give that back and donate it to the community was a great feeling.”

The care centre had been trying to get one for over a year but couldn’t get the funding for it. The centre specializes in long-term care for the elderly or those with disabilities whose needs cannot be met in the community.

Kathy Lee is the facility manager at the Battlefords District Care Centre and was thrilled with the announcement.

“We are all very excited at the BDCC,” Lee said. “Research says early defibrillation can increase the curvivial rate for those who have sudden cardiac arrest. Being able to have this piece of equipment and know that we are protecting those in our facility is honestly heart warming. “

Lee added there haven’t been any deaths at the centre which could have been prevented by an AED but, said last year five people were saved by an AED in the region. She said it is better safe than sorry.

As for Moody’s Equipment, it becomes the only certified New Holland dealer in North Battleford. The new business created six new jobs initially and Anderson said they are accepting applications to fill more positions right now. He expects to reach 12 to 15 total staff.
