Major snowstorm expected for the region Thursday night

Apr 12, 2017 | 5:00 PM

This will come as a nasty surprise to the Easter Bunny making plans for a busy weekend.

Environment Canada is predicting a major storm for the area, including the Battlefords, Meadow Lake and Prince Albert.

Residents will want to avoid travelling if possible Thursday night and Friday after news of a possible snowstorm coming to the local area.

The region, including central, west-central and northern Saskatchewan, is expected to be hit by a major storm starting Thursday night and continuing Friday, bringing up to 30-40 centimetres of snow, with winds gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour.

According to Environment Canada, a major low pressure system over Montana on Thursday will be bringing the heavy snowfall into the area Thursday night and Friday.
