Proud time for BUH Foundation with Art of Courage Wall release

It was a proud and joyful time for Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation Wednesday afternoon when executive director Claudette McGuire announced the unveiling of the new Art of Courage Wall installation at the entrance to the hospital’s chemotherapy unit.

The theme for the first sponsored art installation is a celebration of the First Nations people and their culture.

First Nation professional powwow dancers Lacy Albert with her children Jazz Roan, 10, and Landis Roan, 13, met with photographers Warne Noyce and his wife Paula who captured the bright, bold beauty of the dancers’ regalia in three separate portraits that were unveiled as part of the new Art of Courage Wall display at the hospital.

They joined the accomplished photographers who created the installation for the unveiling of the new Art of Courage Wall.

Each year the Art of Courage Wall, located on the third floor of the hospital, will have a new theme. The goal is to promote strength, courage and dignity to inspire everyone who sees it.

The sponsor for this year’s display is Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs  (BATC).

McGuire said any individual, group or organization is invited to sponsor the Art of Courage Wall each year, whether for a single canvas on display, or all three canvases.
