Cheer Legacy Athletics impresses at Warman Cheer Classic

Mar 8, 2017 | 11:00 AM

In the first meeting of the cheerleading season with all seven Cheer Legacy Athletics’ teams, the North Battleford club took home three second-place finishes and three third-place finishes this past weekend at the Warman Cheer Classic.

It was the 11th year for the Warman competition, and this one saw over 250 performances.

The youth teams from CLA shone particularly bright in this competition, as the Nobles, which is a beginner group competing in Level 1, came second and had a flawless routine, which is also called ‘hitting zero.’ The Regals, also a beginner group in Level 1, also finished second and hit zero.

While ‘hitting zero’ indicates a perfect routine, it does not necessarily mean it is a winning routine, as routines often have a different degree of difficulty to them, which factors into the scoring.

The Nobles are made up of athletes aged 6-8, while the Regals are kids aged 8-11.

Also finishing second, though not quote hitting zero, were the CLA Aristocrats, made up of children aged 3-5.

CLA Majesty, which is a little bit older with athletes aged 12-14, finished in third out of seven teams in the junior level 2 category, and managed to hit zero.

CLA Imperial, consisting of athletes aged 6-8, finished in third out of six teams and hit zero in the Mini Level 1 category.

Meanwhile, the John Paul II Crusaders senior varsity team came in third as well, and hit zero. The JP II team came in first at last year’s competition and is much younger this year.

The CLA Royals also competed, finishing in sixth and hitting zero.
