Operation Red Nose a big success in the Battlefords

Jan 24, 2017 | 9:06 AM

Operation Red Nose was a big success in the Battlefords this year, as the local chapter ranked second in the province in terms of volunteer hours.

Operation Red Nose is a program people can call if they have driven their car out and are too intoxicated to drive it home. Three volunteers will come in their own car to where the person is and two will drive that person’s car home while the other follows behind to bring the other two volunteers back to do it all over again.

The Battlefords program had 772 volunteer hours put into it, ranking it second in the province.

The service was free but donations were encouraged. Any money collected from the program went towards KidSport, a program aimed at helping underprivileged youth participate in sports. By the end of the period, Operation Red Nose raised $13,500.
