Stars slip in national rankings

Jan 17, 2017 | 9:32 AM

The Battleford’s North Stars slipped one spot in the Canadian Junior A Hockey League rankings based on Monday’s report.

The North Stars split a pair of games with Weyburn on the weekend. The team is now ranked eighth nationally and remains the only team in the SJHL to make the top-20 power rankings.

On Friday night the Stars had a six-game winning streak snapped after a 2-1 overtime loss to the Red Wings. However, on Saturday night the Stars scratched out a 2-1 win thanks in part to a goal by Coby Downs with less than a second remaining in regulation time.

The Canadian Junior Hockey League comprises 10 Junior A Hockey leagues across Canada representing 132 teams.
