Longtime CTV Saskatoon anchor announces retirement

News anchor Rob MacDonald is calling it a career.
The veteran broadcaster is signing off at CTV Saskatoon after 40 years.
“I have been very fortunate to have been living my dream job for more than 40 years; there hasn’t been a day I haven’t looked forward to going to work – a place where I have learned new things every day,” said MacDonald. “I’m honoured that the people of Saskatoon and Saskatchewan have allowed me into their homes every night for more than 40 years, and I’m proud to have worked with some of the best journalists in the business.”
MacDonald was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He began his career at CHAB in Moose Jaw in 1973.
In 1975, he went to Calgary for a one-year stint at CKXL radio before joining CTV Saskatoon in 1976.
MacDonald began anchoring late night news casts shortly after he got to CTV Saskatoon. He started anchoring the six o’clock news in 1988.
MacDonald’s last day at the anchor desk will be on Jan. 20.
