New Moody’s branch in N.B. to create 6 jobs

The new Moody’s branch opening in the Battlefords will not just fill up a vacant building, but will provide six new jobs.

Moody’s Equipment LP is an agricultural equipment dealership and sells a range of brands and products. The dealership will be moving into the building Empire Welding used to occupy at the corner of Thatcher Ave. and Aberdeen St. in North Battleford’s industrial district.

According to Devon Davidson, marketing manager with Moody’s, North Battleford was the perfect spot.

“It is a lively agricultural community out there. There is a large market there we think we can serve,” Davidson said. “We have locations in Lloydminster and Saskatoon. It’s right in our backyard so for us it just made a lot of sense.”

According to Davidson an operations manager was hired for the branch but two service technician spots, two parts technician spots and in the short term at least one or two sales representative positions remain. Davidson said that number could increase long term depending on how expansion goes.

“We are a top 100 employer within Saskatchewan,” Davidson said. “We are well known with the benefits we are able to provide. Speaking on behalf of myself it is a great place to work.”

The fact the Battlefords is attracting new businesses like Moody’s is music to the ears of Linda Machniak, executive director of the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce.

“Any new business that comes to the Battlefords increases our opportunity to serve and provide opportunity for customers and employment,” Machniak said. “The larger the business community and the more successful the business community is, the better the whole community is.””

Davidson said Moody’s will officially receive the building on Jan. 6. After hiring and training Davidson hopes to be open to the public in late January but no official date has been set yet.
