Nov 23, 2016 | 1:00 PM

Sobeys Liquor will move into Battleford after a successful proposal to obtain one of Saskatchewan’s 50 privatized liquor store licenses.

The private store must open within 12 months of the announcement date, with the exception of larger centres like Regina or Saskatoon who have 18 months.

The provincial stores converted to private retailers, will continue operating until the new locations are open.

The stores in Unity and Wilkie will be under Delta Co-operative, while St. Walburg will open with a local ownership group including a liquor store employee.
