Needle found in Halloween candy turns out to be a hoax

Pictures circulating North Battleford Facebook groups of a needle found in a chocolate bar has turned out to be hoax.

What was supposed to be a joke between two young boys quickly became a big story on Facebook. The original post was made Tuesday night and within 24 hours was shared 130 times.

One of the boys confessed to his mother he planted the needle.

The mother, who spoke to battlefordsNOW said as an 11-year-old, her son doesn’t understand the seriousness of his prank but hopes the media exposure will make him understand his actions have consequences. She added she is happy there is nobody in the community putting needles in the candy.

She noted her son will be grounded for the hoax and apologized to the community on the post which has since been taken down from Facebook.
