Three stolen vehicles in 24 hours in the Battlefords

Three vehicles were stolen in the Battlefords over 24 hours, with only one having been recovered.

On Wednesday morning, Sept. 7, a white SUV was reported stolen overnight from 100th St. A white truck was also reported stolen from 103rd St. the previous evening.

Police received a report of a third car stolen at roughly 3 p.m. Wednesday from 104th St. but it was recovered in the city just before midnight.

RCMP also responded to two reports of people trying to break into cars, among roughly 50 other calls, during a 24-hour period ending at 6 a.m. Thursday Sept. 8.

A witness reported a suspect trying to break into his vehicle on 109th St. at roughly 9 p.m. and confronted the suspect. According to police, the suspect produced a small knife and made threats before leaving the vehicle. The complainant described the suspect as 19 years old, 5’11”, First Nations, and wearing a white shirt.

At 11:30 p.m. police received a complaint about someone trying to gain access to a vehicle on 103rd St. Police said the suspect was wearing a black hooded coat and fled on a bicycle.

On Wednesday morning a break and enter into a garage on Ross Cres. was reported to have happened the previous evening. Another break and enter into a garage on 98th St. was reported Wednesday. The complainant said the incident happened sometime during the last week and reported some tools missing.

Police responded to two collisions, one of which was a hit and run. A parked truck was hit in a parking lot on 114th St. at roughly 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said a car drove into a tree early Thursday morning, at approximately 2:46 a.m. Police said the vehicle was recovered from the area of Clements Dr. and Henderson Dr. and the matter remains under investigation.
