RCMP respond to stolen truck, gas theft and a powerline fire in 24-hours

Aug 16, 2016 | 12:00 PM

It’s been a busy 24-hours for the Battlefords RCMP. Police are investigating a stolen truck involved in crimes around the city.

The pickup truck, which was stolen from 114th St., was “used in an assault” on Douglas Ave. Monday afternoon, according to RCMP. Police located the truck after the assault, but it failed to stop for officers. The truck occupant stole gas before police located the vehicle again.

RCMP also received a complaint Monday morning of gas siphoned out of three vehicles in Battleford, and is still under investigation.

North Battleford’s parade Monday night wasn’t free of incident. Police said a powerline was knocked over, possibly by one of the vehicles participating. It started a fire, which EMS, Fire and SaskPower responded to. The fire was extinguished and the powerline restored.
